Overview
One of my primary responsibilities during my tenure at Philips was supporting the design & development of their “Clinical Operations Command Center” initiative (known internally as CLOC).
The vision for the product had been in the works for years – a centralized, cloud-based SaaS platform that could take data from assorted devices and systems across a healthcare network (IDN) and provide insights to help improve patient care, optimize resources and streamline operations.
Design Work
Design responsibilities
- Leading efforts to work with stakeholders to create an MVP based on SME guidance
- Collaborate with Product Management to establish initial requirements and specifications
- Conduct user research to identify specific domain needs (i.e. operational vs. clinical), gaps in functionality and usability, determine feasibility with SMEs about displaying data, device usage, etc.
- Deliver specs and support engineering using Scaled Agile planning and execution process
User Research & Usability Testing
Demo System Ownership
The CLOC platform was showcased to and demonstrated in one of our advanced development labs. The lab consisted of a series of computers, displays (static and touchscreen) featuring a mix of functional software and prototypes of future product visions. It was also my responsibility to collaborate with teams and agencies across the enterprise to develop and maintain the demonstration media – a mix of websites, videos, Axure prototypes and CLI tools.
I created a basic progressive web app using to leverage socket links, eventually providing remote control of all the devices in the lab.
