Overview

A client with whom I had designed & collaborated on real estate projects in the past (now operating as Chain Construction) reached out to me when he bought a historic property in the Cascade Mountains.

Discovery & Research

The client had a vision for a one of a kind lodging experience, and asked me to create a logo and overall aesthetic for the business.

I began the project by developing a robust creative brief with the owners. They were using “Mish” purposefully in the name, a Native American suffix found on many Northwest tribal names meaning “people” – so they wanted an aesthetic that included features of the Haida tribe.

Design Work

Ideation

I began to study & sketch – and after a few tries, designed a logo that the clients loved so much they repeatedly told me they wanted tattoos of.

I also visited the property and shot photos & video for the website and marketing materials. Their focus was on sustainable renovation and communal living, so I used a natural & minimalist look and feel. This ensured the focus was on the property itself, not on marketing flash.

The next step was to design and develop a WordPress website with reservation functionality (pre-AirBnB) that the owners were able to manage themselves. They were extremely happy with the finished product.
